Not bad at all. It is a little different from a Tokyo izakaya, but still very delicious.
Cozy place with great food (especially sushi rolls; their ramen is excellent but subject to availability) and good selection of Japanese spirits. Friendly staff give this restaurant a family feel. I believe the restaurant section is all ages, although I've only ever sat at the bar. Often lively but rarely crowded.
Great service, good drinks, perfect food.
Delicious food and drinks. We love this place!
I went for lunch and enjoyed the bento box lunch special. There’s a great variety in the bento box and everything was fresh and hot. It was filling and very satisfying.
I ordered Mega donburi. It was really tasty and had big service size. Love it!
Under new ownership with new chefs so food is not as good as before.
Nice place to relax and drink with friends !! I recommend you to not miss the happy hour ðŸ‘
One of my favorite spots to spend my ME time. Foods and drinks are phenomenal. I'd say this place is more like a cozy spot for locals to gather and hangout.
AMAZING food. Slow service but they were absolutely full. Great happy hour prices.
Cute, cozy, good food, pricey compare to other restaurants in the area.
Very friendly staff, and nice environment. I have always been curious about what happened to this restaurant after Takohatchi left. Sushi, izakaya Shochu. Very good combination.
Visited during their Happy Hour. They had a new menu and the prices are great for the amount you get. The drinks are solid - only place in ID with large variety of Japanese Shochu & cocktails to match! They also offered specials for food outside of the menu. Looking forward to coming back to try.
Great for small eats
Love this joint. Perfect bar and small plates. Awesome bartenders that know their stuff and offer the perfect amount of “adviceâ€.
Unpretentious, locally owned neighborhood staple serving good food and drinks. Monday nights get experimental in the kitchen, and weekends occasionally feature live music. One of the best spots for someone new to the neighborhood to find friendly locals to beat the Seattle freeze.
Great food and atmosphere but the gyoza was too soft and fell apart other than that... Top notch 👌
Good nabeyaki udon at a great price.
This is an insider tip, looks quite unremarkable from outside but has really good food for a reasonable price. Staff was very friendly. They brought us the wrong dish first but we got to keep it for free and got the right one anyway a few minutes later.
Had a reservation and they sat us in when we got there-no fuss! The food was amazing we had the dragonball and it was delicious, super giant pieces of sushi, and the artwork was pretty neat! Kinda pricey but it fills you up!
Gosh I wish this was better. The setting and location are incredible but the food tastes no differently from any other mid-priced Japanese restaurant. Very basic menu needs updating. Nods to seasonality and freshness would be welcomed.
Top shelf place. Great traditional food and drinks. My favorite bartenders in Seattle.
Happy hour (5-7pm daily, at the time of this review) is always a blast. The owner Mike is fantastic, and there's usually something fun he's got going on - movies, games, ppv fights, etc.The food and drinks are a great value - tako wasabi and takoyaki are a must have. Sake is a delicious and highly economical way to get drunk lol.At the end of the day, there aren't many places I keep coming back to. And this is one of them!
Chill atmosphere and great food!
Great spot, awesome happy hour, get in there!
Fantastic authentic Japanese food at a reasonable price. The atmosphere is interesting and cozy, and the Japanese alcohol menu is rather extensive. Very impressed by this place.
First time at Kaname Izakaya and Shochu Bar and the service is excellent. Was seated quickly and attended to super fast! They asked for our drink order and came back within 5 minutes and asked for our food. It's lunch time so it's super important for us to get back to work fast and with their service there is no worry that we will be late. Excellent service from the staff and super friendly
Their Udon Suki is very flavorful. Generous portion and delicious chicken karaage.
Quick lunch with best portion and tasty food! I love this restaurant from the food to the service!!!
I came here for a lunch special. Good food, and nice price.
Cozy bar, great happy hour every day from 4-7
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Met so many wonderful people. Thanks for a best first night in Seattle!
After the recent menu change, the quality of the food plummeted. Price went up by 30% and quantity went down by 30% as well. It used to be one of the better places to enjoy Japanese Donburi, but not anymore.
Very welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu items changed quite a bit this past year making for a refreshing feel. The atmosphere still has a very chill and down-to-earth feel, perfect for just relaxing with your friends over some good food and drinks.
This is such a nice place. I loved the decor and the atmosphere. The food was amazing. The sake was perfect and the whole menu very reasonably priced.
Great service at the bar - excellent knowledge about sochu/soju and whiskeys. Also helpful about the other local spots to eat. Not to mention consistent and delicious food.
Good food and fun times.
Great and fun bar to go with friends! It's noisy in general as a bar, so there's no reason to expect it to be quiet.
Very good place 😊
Went for late-ish lunch, they were decently busy. Sat and ordered right away. I got an obento, my mom got the special which was tonkatsu. Both were excellent and well portioned. My bento was delicious and reminded me of studying abroad in Tokyo. Food was very authentic Japanese food and the price was good too (quality lunch for two in Seattle for under 30 is pretty damn good in my opinion). 10 out of 10 would go back again.
Great food. Great service. The kind of place you want to go again and again.
Nice Japanese restaurant on Jackson. Met for lunch. They have good specials.
Found this place by accident on a business trip. If I still lived in Seattle, I'd be here all the time. Good food and great service. Awesome neighborhood vibe. The owners knew just about everyone in the place. Plus, the fella behind the bar had some skills!
Yummy, fresh, and tempura was perfectly light and crispy. We were there with a large party and got the food in good time. Service was excellent.
Great food, with excellent gluten free options. Wonderful Shochu cocktails, expert bar staff.
Stopped here on a whim and loved it. Place feels really nice and friendly. Staff was attentive. Lots of interesting places around it and definitely walkable area. If you like sushi, this is a great place to stop in.
